Itinerary

Day 1 :
Akwaaba

We welcome you to Ghana and are happy to host you for our safari and adventurous tour. Our first stop will be the Independence Square, which holds historical significance for Ghana. Our journey will take us to the National Museum of Ghana, where cultural and colonial antiquities dating back to the medieval era are on display. The facility stands as a treasure trove of the nation's history and culture. We will have the chance to stand beside one of the greatest sons of Africa, posing for pictures when we visit the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, where the great works of Ghana's first president will be on display, and learn about his dedication to the liberation of Africa and the Black race.

Our adventurous spirit will arise when we take a trip to the fascinating Wli Waterfalls and immerse ourselves in the lush green environment while hiking our way to the waterfall. The Wli Waterfalls have two sections, the lower and the upper falls.

Mountain Afadja-to won't be far from reach, and it will be our next destination. It is the tallest mountain in Ghana, standing 885 meters above sea level, and we will hike our way up to the summit of the mountain, as its cooler weather will be an advantage for us during the day.

Along the journey to the mountains, we will stop and take a break at the Tafi Atome Village, where monkeys in this setting are considered sacred and even buried when they die. These human-like animals are friendly, and we will have an amazing moment feeding them with bananas.

Day 3 :
Shai Hills

On our third day in Accra, we will embark on a 2-hour drive away from the city to Shai Hills Natural Reserve Park for a fascinating wildlife experience. Upon entering the park, we will be greeted by the sight of baboons and monkeys before having a guided tour of the reserve's rich array of wild animals, including zebras, antelopes, and ostriches.

The "Park Houses" include a sacred grove of the Shai people where archaeological evidence of early human settlements dating back to the discovery age can be found. This park is not short of adventure, as we will hike our way to the rocky mountains and capture great images with astonishing backgrounds.

We will take a break and treat ourselves to a delicious lunch before visiting the century-old Aburi Botanical Garden. Here, we will learn about different species of plants and pose for pictures with trees that are older than our grandparents.

Day 4 :
The North

We will fly from Accra to the northern city of Tamale to engage in the best wildlife adventure that the country has to offer.

Upon our early arrival in Tamale, we will be transported in an air-conditioned bus, making our first stop at Mole National Park. Here, we will be treated to breathtaking scenes of giant African elephants, lions, hyenas, antelopes, buffaloes, snakes, and other wildlife species. This will be a guided tour, and we will move around with a safari vehicle provided by the park. After our exciting wildlife adventure, we will drive to our eco-friendly resort, surrounded by amazing nature.

We will explore the ancient city and its archaeological landmarks. Our first stop will be the Larabanga Mosque, which is the oldest mosque in Ghana and one of the oldest in West Africa. We will drive through the vibrant city and visit the chief's palace.

Our next destination will be the Wechiau Hippo Sanctuary, located on the Black Volta, the largest river in Ghana. Here, we will be thrilled by fascinating scenes of these wild animals.

We will take an early flight to the cultural city of Kumasi and visit the Manhyia Palace Museum. Here, we will learn about the ancient Ashanti Kingdom and its rulers, their resistance to colonial rule, and their impeccable artisanry, which is deeply ingrained in their history and culture.

Our next stop will be the Komfo Anokye Sword Site, which holds significant importance in the formation of the Ashanti Kingdom. The Kumasi Cultural Center will treat us to customs and traditions, with a museum full of artifacts to educate us about the Ashanti kings.

We will visit villages to learn about their craftsmanship. Our first stop will be Bonwire Kente Village, where we will have the opportunity to witness how the famous Kente weaving is done and learn about the community's discovery of this art.

Our next stop will be Adinkra Village, where we will learn about the Adinkra symbols and have the opportunity to choose and print our own design. Ahwia Wood Carving Village will be our next visit, where we will witness the craftsmanship of the indigenous people in curving pieces of wood into amazing statues, ranging from animated figures to dolls, furniture, and more. We will spend the rest of the day exploring Kumasi city.

We will travel to Cape Coast by road, and along the journey, we will visit a UNESCO Heritage Site, Lake Bosomtwe, which is the largest natural lake in Ghana. Our second stop will be at Assin Manso Slave River, where slaves were made to take their last bath before reaching the dungeons further south of the site.

We will begin our colonial exploration on Day 9 by driving through the ancient city of Cape Coast before visiting our first spot, which is Elmina Castle, the first colonial building in the country. It was built by the Portuguese as a lodge initially, but it was later expanded to accommodate slaves and merchandise. We will make our second stop at Cape Coast Castle, built and operated by the British, where many slaves from the then Upper Volta (Burkina Faso), Mali, Ghana, and many other countries lying north of Ghana were held and later transported to the so-called New World.

Our Day 10 tour begins with an hour drive away from Cape Coast towards Accra to visit a UNESCO-protected natural park where we will immerse ourselves in lush greenery and forest conservation. Kakum National Park hosts the famous canopy walk where we will trek 7 steps foot bridges on top of trees aging over 100 years old and 350 meters above sea level. Upon reaching Accra, we will have dinner at a plush restaurant with a live music performance.

We will put our bargaining skills to practice when we visit the Accra Art Center where we can buy all types of souvenirs and artifacts, textiles, clothing, and artworks. We will then visit the Artist Alliance Gallery for contemporary Ghanaian and African art pieces. We will spend time on the famous Oxford Street for street shopping and visit the Accra City Mall. Finally, we will relax at the vibrant Labadi Beach Resort.
